About mAadhaar
The Unique Identification Authority of India has released a new app called mAadhaar, which aims to reach a large number of smartphone users. The app offers various Aadhaar services and allows users to carry their Aadhaar information in the form of a soft copy, eliminating the need to carry a physical copy at all times. The app is available in English as well as Indian languages, making it accessible to a diverse range of residents. Users can download their Aadhaar, order a reprint, update their address, download offline eKYC, verify Aadhaar, and more. The app also features a personalized section where users can lock/unlock their Aadhaar or biometric authentication, generate time-based one-time passwords, update their profile, and share their QR code and eKYC data securely. One of the key features of mAadhaar is its multilingual capability. The app is available in English as well as Indian languages, ensuring that it is accessible to residents from different linguistic backgrounds. Users can select their preferred language during installation, but the input fields in the forms only accept data entered in English. This is to help users avoid the challenges of typing in regional languages due to limitations in mobile keyboards. Another important feature of mAadhaar is its universality. Both residents with and without Aadhaar can install the app on their smartphones. However, to avail personalized Aadhaar services, residents need to register their Aadhaar profile in the app. This allows them to access a range of services, including downloading Aadhaar, ordering a reprint, updating their address, downloading offline eKYC, verifying Aadhaar, and more. The app also provides a section where users can lock/unlock their Aadhaar or biometric authentication, generate time-based one-time passwords, update their profile, and securely share their QR code and eKYC data. Additionally, mAadhaar offers a multi-profile feature, allowing Aadhaar holders to include multiple profiles in their profile section. They can add up to three profiles with the same registered mobile number. The app also provides Aadhaar services on SMS, allowing users to avail of Aadhaar services even when there is no network. This feature requires SMS permission. Lastly, the app includes a feature to help users locate the nearest enrollment center, making it easier for them to access Aadhaar services.
