Additional Information

Fair Use

Before filing a DMCA notice, please consider whether the use of your copyrighted material may constitute fair use. Fair use is a legal doctrine that permits limited use of copyrighted material without permission for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research.

Legal Consequences

Knowingly making false claims in a DMCA notice may subject you to liability for damages under Section 512(f) of the DMCA. Courts have awarded significant damages against parties who have filed false DMCA notices.

Alternative Dispute Resolution

We encourage copyright owners and users to resolve disputes directly when possible. If you believe there has been a misunderstanding, consider reaching out to the user directly before filing a formal DMCA notice.
